Well a super hello to you all! You know sometimes there seems to be patches of your life that are just awesomely amazing?? Mine is right now. Had a far out weekend last weekend with a new bunch of friends from the gym, great time at work and home, made lots of progress with my craft work. Too good!! Lol

Thank you card

While talking to a friend down the main street of our town I found a usb stick on the ground. I decided to take it home first before handing it in to the police station. I wondered if perhaps there might be a name on the stick somewhere so put it in my computer and what do you know......it had the name of a friend of mine who has just moved back to town after being away for many years, and who I had met up with a couple of days before in a yoga class!!! How weird is that? She bought me this card and mug as a thank you. Thanks Jodi.

An elephant!!

This life sized elephant has been getting moved to different locations around our town. Pretty spiffy hey? I took these photo’s when it was near our local library, very impressive. It is here for a more serious purpose though, to highlight the many road accidents and fatalities in our area. Click here for more info. 

I love the creative way the elephant was made out of car parts and the colourful design. 

Well my friends, it is time for me to get the last of my washing cranked up and the time is ticking. As I farewell you for another week I would also like to remind darling Suez that she needs to hold on to her cap and mittens because cyclone Heather is making her way to sunny old Queensland. Lol Look out, she was firing on all cylinders yesterday!!!!!! I'll miss Heather while she's away for her holiday.......no one to bother. lol. xx

Viva Italia

Furious knitting.

This week was full of furious knitting to get things finished and to get new projects on the go. Since I decided to hold a stall at our local markets, orders have started to fly in. I have made a head start with my headbands for this coming winter and they are topped off with cute little crocheted flowers.......

My collection of baby beanies is starting to grow. It’s a simple pattern using double rib for the band and stocking stitch for the main section of the beanie.

       

 Another knitting order to be filled – 1 baby jacket for a 3 week old babe and a jacket for her 3 year old sister. The cardigan below is on the go, using 4 ply baby yarn and a good old vintage pattern.

On a happier note, I was given this lovely piece of fabric and I can see it being used on one of my library displays at work.

I’m off to get a ruffle bag made in my sewing shed. Before I take off into the abyss I just want to send well wishes to all Aussie folk experiencing the rotten cyclones we’ve got happening on both sides of the country. We’ve only had the winds and rain. In the north end of Western Australia, we’ve had pretty nasty destruction due to the cyclone. I hope our eastern states folk are holding on tight.

I’ve just had one of the best week’s ever!! It was like having that cup of tea that tasted extra special and you want it to last forever! Lol

1 Slid in an extra cup of tea with Heather

2 Picked up an extra day’s work

3 Finished the bed socks order for a customer

4 Sold stuff at the markets

5 Was given a trailer load of old bricks

6 Slept well

7 Found out a friend of mine is moving back to town

8 Found a nice home for our young rooster

9 Had lovely friends over last night

10 Picked up more knitting orders

Pretty happy with all that!

Sitting at the markets yesterday just isn’t right if I’m not knitting as well as socialising, so I whipped up this little cutie.

While hubby was at a job the other day he was asked if he’d like some bricks.....yes please! To some it may look like a trailer full of old stuff,

but to me.......

It feels like home.

A great find at the local library....Full of wonderful crochet patterns to keep me entertained for ages.

We were entertained  last night by Milo, as we sat in the backyard and watched as he chewed his leash into millions of pieces. Oh boy....just as well hubby is a clever guy and made a new leash this morning. He did a super job too. Thanks for your company last night Chris and Neville and thanks for giving Mr Rooster a new home,. You guys are sweet as.

I best be off now as I have Heather the feather coming over to get me into strife. Lol. Actually, the sweet heart is coming to drop off some yarn I asked her to purchase for me. See, I’m still having the best week. That’s what happens when you surround yourself with people you want to be around. It’s great.

Where have I been? I needed a break so I had one. Lol. Some time was needed to get a very big knitting project done and every bit of spare time was applied to getting to the finish line. Here is the glorious piece of work I have spent these many passed weeks......

This lovely cradle cover has been knitted in 4 ply and the pattern is from the book Traditional knitting for children and bears. The cradle cover also comes with a pillow cover and both pieces of work are trimmed with a lace edging.

 The finished measurement for the cradle cover was 74cm x 66cm. Not that big really is it? Good size for a cradle but the lady was suggesting she would like a blanket size, so........ding ding......I made it again in a larger size, using 8 ply instead of 4 ply. Here it is again almost finished and measuring in at 89in x 89in.....and with pillow cover.

So my friends, that is what has kept me from blogging. Which ever set is not needed can be sold. Yesterday I did manage to make this cool looking cover for my ottoman. I will be taking this to my library for the kids to use. They can throw the cushions over it and have a fun time reading books.

                       Gotta love that face!

Had a bit of ‘me’ time this morning roaming around the garden. Unfortunately there is nothing much happening flower wise due to our very hot summer. 

 My favourite niece Lisa bought me this cute little welcome sign. She knows how much I welcome visitors.

Well gals, I have a few pair of knitted slippers I need to make before next weekend’s markets. I have had several orders asking for slippers, so slippers they will have. 

We have a lovely long weekend here for Labour Day. Labour Day in Australia celebrates workers’ role in contributing towards the nation’s economy.
