Patchwork across the universe
Hello, I am on holidays for two weeks and have
decided to use my time wisely. My first project was to make a backdrop for this
years Children’s Book week and the theme is “Read across the universe”.
What better way to use up those scraps of
material that I can’t possibly throw away? I have used strips of blue tones and
thrown in a few other colours to make the universe and then I will add paper
stars, planets, comets etc when the backdrop is pinned up. What do you think?
Made with love
I am on my second backdrop right now and hope
to get that finished some time today. Yes, another day in the sewing shed. In
the meantime, I have been hammering away at my knitting....
A cute set consisting of a jacket, bonnet and
bootees...
Baby knitting
Cute bootees
Just for something different, the start of a Christmas tree. See the little beads?
And for a big project.....a knitted baby
jacket...in....gulp....2 ply!!
I love knitting in 2 ply, the results are fantastic. The pattern is out of an old, old book. When I was given the book it didn’t even have the front cover anymore, but the instructions were all there. I have cast on 313 sts and will be making a good start on it while I sit selling raffles tickets for 2 days. Should get good progress made on this little beauty. Oh yes, did I mention there were babies on the way again? Just gives me another excuse to keep knitting. Lol.

Well, I’m outta here to keep sewing my
backdrops and doing fun stuff all day. Beaming you guys lots of happiness today
and always.
Cheers, Anita

I am sure the kids will love the Universe Backdrop....
I always love those cute little knitting projects you make.
Hmm I think I have that old pattern book with the 2ply too but I know I will never make it. Good luck.
I love when there are babies on the way - they sure do make a great excuse to sew or crochet or knit!
Lots of lovely things happening at your place, all your knitting is beautiful. The Christmas tree looks interesting!

The kids will love your backdrop, such a lovely idea.
The baby jacket is beautiful, I love the shape of it and the way it falls from the bodice. I have loads of ancient pattern books, once I've finished this baby blanket, I'll be searching through to find something else to do, there is still plenty of yarn left on the cone
A very productive day for you Anita!
Your universe backdrop looks great. I can imagine this making a great display.
And your knitting is amazing. I don't think I would even attempt 2 ply. Wow!
Your knitting is delicious! I wish I could knit like that!
Love the backdrop! Your knitting is so lovely! I have just learned how to knit and hope that I can get good enough to make a baby sweater!
Gosh you have been productive Anita - your knitting is just beautiful, I do love those old patterns ... & your christmas tree sure looks interesting !!!???
2 ply lacy baby jacket?? It will be utterly gorgeous, but eeep! Love the backdrops and the finished baby set, gorgeous!
so much beautiful knitting. I just love your baby knitting.Only downfall of using the two ply is the amount of stitches it takes to make the garment.
