Hello, I have just dragged myself out of

my sewing shed, and boy it was hard to

do!! I made an early start on....supposedly

cleaning my sewing shed up, I did start to

but then I laid eyes on some Christmas material.

 

This is what I’ve made this morning, a

Christmas present bag and a small gusset

Christmas box. Great ideas to jazz up

the joy of giving at Christmas.

I am rather pleased with this little stitchery

that I enjoyed making.

 

A couple of days ago after I’d painted the

furniture for the dolls house, I made some

cute bed linen for the dolls bed. I rather

like the ric rac, it is nice and bright.

My rascal friend Heather and I went for a

trip to a quaint little town about 20

minutes away from home. We had heard of

a fantastic craft shop there and had to

investigate for ourselves. Of course

Heather finds the best things!

We also went

for a walk to the op-shop and it was

typical of a small country town. Everyone

we met said hello, smiled and seemed

cheery. It was such a peaceful place.

I promised myself while I was on holidays

that I would do one spring clean job a day,

That hasn’t happened yet today, but it will.

I attacked my antique tea trolley yesterday

replacing all the doilies and runners with

fresh ones.

Well, I can hear the sewing shed calling my

name, so I must go.

Hi everyone, today I did something that I

haven't done in my entire married life...

I went to the city and did some shopping

by myself!!! I did go to some shops that

I wouldn't usually bother to stop in

and I hadn't been missing anything.

I did find some nice shoes and tops for

myself and made a start on my

Christmas shopping.

 

Since starting holidays I have had that

extra bit of time to surf the net and look

what I have found.......

Fancy some breakfast? Or perhaps a

hamburger?

 

 

I thought it might be fun

for the kids at school to 'play with

their food'. Eekkk! Better not let any

parents hear me saying that. There are

patterns around for you to make

some yourself. I actually just stuck

some stitches on my crochet hook and

away I went. I haven't followed a pattern

for any of this stuff, just made it up as I

went.

and I have made a trial pair to see how

they knitted up.

I'm hoping to get a bit more done on the

garden as the weather is starting to be

all silly again. I'm having to take

preventative measures against

hay fever this year as the wind is

really kicking up its heals.

Hi there! I've just started my holidays and

I've already made a start on some

projects. I went to see my neighbour to

ask about how to make some basic

doll house furniture and I came away

with a few good ideas. This is my attempt

at wood work and by no means am

I an expert but I will sure have fun

trying. I will show you these pieces when

they are finished and painted up.

Not a professional wood worker at all!!

I went for a net surf and came across a

fun idea using felt and pop sticks. I will keep

you in suspense until I have finished making

the secret project.

 

 

I wonder what this will be??

Over the holidays I will be madly working

away in the sewing shed. I now know why

my husband and millions of husbands

around the world don't want to come out of

their sheds.....sheds are fun!!!! If they are

sewing sheds that is. I just don't want to

come inside the house until I've done

'just one more row'. I have made a start

on another tablecloth using those little

bits of material and slowly but surely

I am emptying out one bag of material

after another.

The weather is fantastic today, as opposed to

yesterday all windy and blowy. There are the

few clouds wanting to come over and spoil

things but it's all good, the fire is still going

inside. Enjoy this glorious day and all the

         Hello again, we are having such unusual weather

         here this weekend. We have the wind blowing, it's

         hot and cold and the weather is all over the place.

         It has not stopped me from doing my favourite

         things outside though. I have started on another

         I-spy tablecloth, I know I seem to be making alot

         of tablecloths but I need many of them to cover

         lots of desks at school for displays. Also it has

         reduced the scrap bags I have hidden in my

         sewing shed.

       A friend kindly gave me a big bag full of nylon ribbon

       to knit with. So I quickly went to the local craft shop

       and purchased a little doll to make a toilet roll cover

       using the nylon. I was a bit let down because

       apparently the doll is too small. I bet I could work the

       pattern out to make the dress fit the doll. I'll let you

       know how I go.

On Friday night I was invited to a thank you BBQ at

the Agricultural Society for all volunteers who helped

at the show. That bunch of people, mostly farmers,

are a great bunch of fun loving larrikins I have come

across. They are a bunch of teasers....in the nicest

way, and when you tease them they don't get

offended, as some people do. One of the farmer's

wives reminded me to help myself to the leftover

straw that was used in the sheep section. I did just

that and have started spreading it over our garden.

In the meantime while doing show duties, gardening

etc, I have managed to slip in a knitted pair of bootees

and a pair of knitted pants.

For someone special

 I have a jacket on the go for night time leisure but

 I'm not far enough along to show any of it off.

I have been told about an old craft coming back

into vogue and though I've been told its name I

cannot locate any information about it. Anyone

out there heard of the craft called trichot? It uses

a knitting needle with a crochet hook on the end

of it. I am interested in having a go at this craft.

Hope you can help me.

I'm off to enjoy the rest of the weekend in my

sewing shed. I plan to do some more sewing before

the week starts. I have three and a half working days

to go before I go on holidays again and I'm so

excited.

Annual Agricultural Show

It was showtime this weekend and even
though I only managed

to enter 7 items, I came home with 3 first prize, 1
second prize and 3 third prize wins. My pink baby
gown/dress came first, one of the chemo caps came

2nd, my two bananas in PJ's came first. The two
items I had made in the recycled section both

had third place wins and I'm pretty happy with that.

My dressed doll also came in first place.

Next year I aim to enter more items and start earlier.
 In the same section I had a couple of entries there was

this magnificent wooden horse. Of course it came
1st in its section and won the best exhibit

award, rightly so. I thought it would be
nice to share it with you.

This cute little teddy is actually knitted. I managed
to catch up with the lady who knitted it and
she is happy to share the pattern with me.

Here are some little teddies I have knitted and
the pattern is from a Guardian Angel book from
several years ago.These two guys are knitted in 8 ply
yarn, just scraps as usual, and they have gone

to live in my library.

 

Now that the show is over for another year I can start on
my baby clothes as there will be two visits from the stork to

drop off a couple of special babies soon. Our weather is
warming up and today I feel like sitting outside in
the sunshine.

I missed blogging last weekend but I’ve returned with heaps of interesting bits. Most exciting and nerve racking news is that this morning I was invited for morning tea at the high school my son attends to meet the Honourable Peter Collier, Minister for Education; Energy; and Aboriginal Affairs. My knees were knocking and the teeth were a chatting, but I had nothing to fear. A very warm, down-to-earth, and friendly person he turned out to be. It was an honour to get the opportunity to meet this very nice person.

I found a useful way to use some of the decorative boxes given to me by lovely Denise. I filled them with sweets, wrapped them in cello and made paper tags as Father’s Day gifts for the school stall.

Talking about school, I have been flat out getting the library dressed up for Children’s Book Week. Here are a few snaps of the outstanding work the children completed.

How bright!!!

A bit of free time gave me the chance to make another I-spy quilt. As usual, I haven’t measured up any sizes and some of the shapes aren’t perfect, but it’s bright, fun and laying across the display desks in the library as we speak.

Next week is show week and I’m awfully excited!! I love seeing what other people have made and maybe give me inspiration to try different things. I only have about 8 entries to put in this year as I had spent most of this year happily knitting baby gear for special little people the stork dropped off.

Have the most perfect weekend and get to really enjoy the gifts life gives us. My little partner in crime (Heather) and I are off on a jaunt to the wool shop in a neighbouring town and then on to another little town to check out the tearooms that are meant to  be just fantastic. We’ll be happy, big bags of wool, tea and cake sloshing around in our bellies and Heather driving us home at her usual 70km’s an hour!!!
