1 Christmas Item a month.

One Xmas Item a Month

Hello , I thought I would show my project for the 1 Christmas Item a month.
I love gingerbread men Christmas decorations and with some leftover pieces here are two little cuties. I have stitched on the eyes and mouth using embroidery thread, ric rac across the arm on one of them and stitched buttons down their fronts.
I plan to place them in my Christmas basket near the entry of the hallway at Christmas time. I will keep making more of them because they are fun to make. After work today I will visit the other gals who have joined in the 1 Christmas Item a month to see what they have made and get some inspiration from them. Thanks Narelle for kindly hosting this fun gathering. Have a great day everyone, I'm off to work in my fantastic library.
Cheers, Anita.

It is good to

Embrace a hope

-Ovid

Hello to you all. We have a nice cool change to our weather, not sure how long it will last right now but enjoyable all the same. I blinked this week and where did it go? lol.  Some wonderful news for me to share with you. A cute little baby boy has come into the world. Hudson Levi has arrived weighing in at 7lb 5oz. Congratulations Mum and Dad!! I had received a request for a baby blanket so during the week I whipped one up. Do you like it? Click here for the pattern.
I am very happy with how it turned out and it is knitted in an 8 ply yarn. You could use 10 ply too for older children. Another fun project I have been working on is a stitchery that will turn into a cushion cover for my lounge room. I'm still plodding along with this project and I love the colours they have suggested to stitch with.

Posted by PicasaWe had to visit the Orthodontist this week so we grabbed our Bunnings voucher and did some shopping in the gardening section. Cory spotted these cute basket hangers and stuck one on his head. We hatched a plan and stuck one each on our head and called out to hubby across the shop. Ever seen a husband go bright red in the face?....it's really funny. One of the shoppers said to us "Harry Potter!!" We laughed.
I have been waiting for a flower to pop out of this bush and just one single little flower has bloomed. Unfortunately the tag has come off and I'm not sure what the plant is. I remember it said it turns into a good sized shrub. What are you doing on this fine Sunday? I am planning to make use of the cooler weather and do some sewing in my shed and just generally plod around. I'll be back tomorrow with my project for 1 Christmas item a month.
See you then!!
Cheers, Anita.

Friends are the
Sunshine of life.
-John Hay
Hello, even though our weather hasn’t given up on boiling us to bits I have still been madly knitting away. I couldn't resist making another baby sleeping sack, though this time I have made it in soft colours. Click here for the pattern. I used an 8ply yarn with no. 8 knitting needles. The finished project is 19 inches long, just right for a new born baby.

For someone special
On the sewing front, I have made this rather gorgeous little purse carry to use for special occasions like morning and afternoon tea at a favourite cafe with Heather. Like we did today. A recent visit to the local craft shop saw me purchase a bundle of small 3 inch ready cut squares. I had to use them and decided a cute little bag would be handy. I love all the bright colours and for the inside I used a simple blue to match.

My cute bag!
As it is too hot do to anything outside I have made a start on another TV blanket for the library. It is something to do in the airconditioning. Don't anyone out there suggest house work!!!! lol. Too hot for that too.

Another masterpiece!
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend wherever you all are. To make me feel better tell me what your weather is like...someone else out there must be having this hot, hot weather.
Anita.

Well hello there!

Hello, another week has peeled away and a glorious weekend for crafting is here. I am making several secret projects at the moment and can’t show the whole garment but I would love to share with you my progress. A trip to Spotlight helped me find some rather gorgeous yarn 50% nylon and 50% acrylic. Very soft I might add.

I'm very happy with the way the pattern is going. Very dainty.

I went to the library this morning and found a stack of craft magazines and this very interesting little book. I'm not really into the paper craft as yet but there are some cute designs and ideas for gift wrapping or displays.

This might creep you out a bit but hubby and I have been watching this little character for weeks now. He sits in his web and just.....waits!!! We watched him actually mend his web and in awe we watched as he went in rounds doing so. How to keep two people amazed for quite some time.

Have a look at his body, it looks like two eyes looking at you. Almost like a skull!!!! Eekkkk! Well that's it I've scared us all to bits now. I'm out of here now. Have a wonderful weekend. Happy stitching everyone.
Cheers, Anita.

Friday Night with Friends.

Friday Night with Friends
Hello, I’ve been itching to make this girl for a while and thought she would make a great project for Friday Night with Friends. I found this cute little girl in a magazine called Holiday crafts to make No.1.  Anita also comes with a Pins and needles case you can make, but I'm pretty happy with just her. She was made to take to sewing group as a name tag and she is cute. Measuring at about 3 inches x 3 inches.
Cute brooch

While I was on a roll last night I also finished this TV blanket I was making for the kids. It's turned out really nice and just the right size. I went to spotlight and found this funky bright fluro green so I had to have a ball of it.

TV blanket
Not the softest yarn but not too scratchy either. A good dose of fabric softner will add a nice touch to it.
She’s bright!!
Well I'm off to see what everyone else made for Friday Night with Friends. I enjoyed their projects last time and can't wait to see what they've made this round.
Cheers, Anita.
