Good morning possums!!

Oh wow…….I’ve fallen off the wagon already. All of my heartfelt promises about doing other crafts instead of knitting has not happened!! Lol...mind you I’m going to defend myself here and say that I’ve started a baby blanket that is going to take me a fair while and there is no spare time for any other crafts. So there….I’m all better now.

I will show you next post how I’m going with the baby blanket. I’m really chugging away at this one as it’s knitted in 3 ply and a delicate lace pattern. What I will share with you today is my yarn bombed, knitted Rubik's cube. This was an entry in the show. I wanted to enter something in the yarn bombing section that was a bit different to the traditional things you see. This is where I love Pinterest. I have these favourite boards that I pin my ideas to and I was lucky enough to find a picture of a Rubik's cube. Sorry folks, no pattern….all made up in my head.

This is a blanket I entered in the show and one I enjoyed making so much. It is done in an 8 ply yarn, and if some of you have a sharp eye, you will notice the lace work around the edge is the same lace that I used on 2 baby blankets I have made a while ago.

Today is my last day of holidays and one of the plans on the list to do was to get into the garden. I’m so happy with myself for sticking to it, it’s made me all interested again in the garden. Being honest, I was on the look out for any slithering in the tall grass. I didn’t want to have any encounters with snakes. Our weather is heating up so fast that there have already been snakes found.

Do you ever love a particular project you’ve made so much, that it’s a bit more special than any other? This is the one for me. I saw it at the Perth Royal Show and fell in love with it. I went as far as to track down the entrant and ask where she got the pattern. It was quite a journey to get the pattern but it was so worth it.

A confession now…..I just had to purchase these beautiful shades. I know I’m trying to get rid of my stash, but I crashed and burned here. The devil made me do it. lol

Well today I’m going to be spending time with that wacky crazy bunch from the Ag. Society. We’re holding a fundraiser at a local venue and I just know we’re going to have heaps of fun.

Perhaps we will start off being on our best behaviour, maybe not.
Have a groovy day gals.

Ciao, Anita.

Well hello possums!! I missed out on posting yesterday so I’m sliding in today. First week of holidays down and I’m very proud to say that I’ve stuck to my plan of getting the weeding done. Two trailer loads and counting.

..................................
Last week I prattled on about doing other crafts than just knitting, so I am going to surprise all those non believers out there who emailed me and scoffed about that comment of mine. lol
Drum roll please!!!

Here we have those solid granny squares I told you about last post.....
And here they are together. As you all know what a slacker I am when it comes to buttons and stitching things up, I will have to show you this project when the buttons are on.

Some groovy material =

          super sweet girls skirts
See you lot, I have it in me to put the knitting needles down. lol

My little girls in sleeping bags are doing well at the markets. How cute is she?

OK....now you know there had to be knitting somewhere in this post, so here it is. I found a super cool knitting stitch from the net somewhere (in all honesty, I have forgotten where). If anyone is interested just email me and I will do my best to recover the fancy stitch. Oh, it's a coat hanger cover by the way.
Oh, and here is a collection of coat hangers. They have become very popular at the markets.
Hey gals, I’m so out of here now. Things to do and places to go. Wishing you all a very happy week and hopefully wonderful weather.

Ciao, Anita.

What a wonderful world!
Hey Good morning guys! What a wonderful day, what a wonderful world! So many great things are happening around here....lovely spring weather, in Western Australia we have just had a long weekend, I’m on holidays for 2 weeks, had a super fantastic day at the Royal Show in Perth.......heaps fun. lol

I went to the Royal Show on Sunday to help support our Ag Society, and what a crazy day it was. I was accompanied by Fiona and Heather (two crazies that are also members of our wacky group). We laughed all day, we went walking, eating, poking fun at each other and enjoying our time. Thanks girls, it’s fun acting 18 again, though I was the best behaved.

This ball of tangled wool caused such fun and mischief between these two rat bags, myself and the people checking out our display.

I have admitted to being the Etsy Queen after having found a terrific Italian site with craft items to purchase.....well this is my creation with some cool knitting tape I purchased recently.

I wanted to try a particular stitch from a knitting book I found at the library and then I used this pattern to work from. It has turned out lovely and the colour is pretty groovy too. The tape is similar to the knitting nylon but softer and about 4mm wide.
Why not have a look yourself, click here to visit.

And speaking of  Italy,  a purchase through......er........etsy.
One of my most favourite colours in the world.
I found this top here. I'm naughty. lol
I have come to terms with the fact that I'm addicted to knitting....there....I admitted it!! lol I have decided to really try and pick up a crochet hook, or a sewing needle more often. I have been trying to do this for many years, so here's a start.
I have wanted to try solid granny squares for ages, so here is a start on some crocheting. I didn't need YouTube to help me with this because I knew the basic stitches, so I was very eager to make a start on this. I have more squares to go and I will show you what I have made.
I have also made these ones and they will be for a multi coloured blanket....or something. lol Why not have a try at this stitch if you're into learning crochet, it's very easy.

Ciao until next time, Anita.

What a great day!

..........................
I’m getting pretty excited now about the holidays being just days away!!! Another 3 and a half working days and it’s holiday time for me. Over the holidays my plans are:
Weeding the garden

Sewing summer items for the markets
Knitting
Washing all the curtains
knitting
Cleaning out the chook house
Knitting
Catching up with friends

Sounds like great fun to me!

'
I have two stories to tell today.....a funny story (with evidence) and a sad story. The first story is that I went into the craft shop yesterday to buy circular needles and while I was at the counter with the shop owner, a lady I know came rushing out from the back of the shop and told me to “stay right there, I’ll be back”

When Elizabeth came back she was wielding a strange looking object and a big bag of wool!! Lol
The strange looking object turns out to be a hand held spinning top/wheel. I am yet to look up and find out all about it.

The second half to this story......with evidence is.....
Here is Miss Muffet (Heather the feather) straight into the bag of wool to investigate. I mean.......really!!!! I didn’t go near her, I was too scared.

If there is a ball of wool that has a tangle in it, Heather just has to get that knot out of it and roll it up properly!!! Apparently my sources tell me she can’t even leave a tangled up fishing net on the beach alone. lol

I mean.....I bet that was when her kids were really small and they had to stay on the beach all night, freezing cold and starving until Heather untangled that fishing net.

Now for the sad story. I went down the back yard on Thursday to feed the chooks and something caught my eye.....poor old Chester has been in a rooster fight and was beat up pretty bad. I'll just let you know that the next two photo's are the recovery photo's, I wouldn't share the bad ones.

I found the younger rooster a new home within the hour and bathed as much blood off Chester as I could. I read on the internet that saline water is good for getting out maggots and it worked. Farmer Paul gave me some stuff to keep flies away and that worked too.

The good news is Chester is recovering nicely.

The next 4 photos are from the show. A lovely table runner in cathedral patchwork.....

 A cute mini wall hanging.

 A gorgeous old milk jug.

I just loved this flower made of tin that was an entry at the show. Pretty groovy hey?

And what am I knitting now? Well I’ve decided that it is about time I knitted myself something this year. I had started a black cardi for myself but that is still tucked away. This cute little top is a summer top done in a lace pattern. The yarn has been sent all the way from Italy. .

The yarn reminds me of the nylon ribbon we get here, but it is very very soft and only about 4mm wide.

I’m hearing that washing machine calling out to me now, so I’d better get cracking with the washing.  It looks like a reasonable day outside, so maybe I’ll get to attack some weeds already.

You gals all enjoy your lovely weekend and be happy.

Cheers, Anita.

Show time 2015

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honourable, but
more useful than a life spent doing nothing.
George Bernard Shaw.
Well a howdy do to you all! You guys knew I’d come back! Lol Showtime is over for another year and I’m stonkered....we are all stonkered. We all had heaps of fun at the show, teasing each other, tying the President’s clothing into knots as it hung on the back of a door (he was doing a speech at the opening of the show and was changed in his best attire). While his back was turned the others grabbed his other clothing. I had nothing to do with it this year. Lol

Grab yourself a cuppa and come for a walk through my photo gallery.......

A few of my winning places.....

Love Sponge Bob!!
My 2 ply scarf that was pretty hard going but a great project that I enjoyed doing very much. I came in second place as Heather the feather grabbed 1st place.....I’ll be putting a spell on her. lol

My favourite entry was this pink baby set. I fell in love with the pattern on the bloomers.

Someone elses lovely piece of work

Now you’ve gotta love this cheeky donkey. Fiona kept me in fits all week end. She is a priceless gem and funny as well.
I’m a special flower

That’s Heather’s hedgehog next to my Sponge Bob
Some yarn bombing happening here
Two of the nicest down to earth people one will ever meet. I’m so lucky to have stumbled across these two little possums.

Considering the weather was cruel to us on showday, everyone enjoyed themselves. Lots of fun things to see and do. So roll on next year’s show. Heather did really well in her section and won the trophy. Well done feather!!!!! I won the trophy for my section and I was pretty stoked about that. My first time at winning a section.
I’m off now to catch up on all the housework that hasn’t been done since before the show. Lol  Thanks to Pix for doing all the washing, he’s a little dear.
See you all next time,

Anita.
