Brandon and I have had a quiet week home together, while hubby and Cory have been away go karting. I have caught up with several things I have wanted to do but needed a stretch of uninterrupted time to do. Brandon and I have the same tastes for foods so teatime.......

Salad, mixed beans and chicken fillets....too yummy.

Yes, you all know there will be projects to show and tell. Here they are.....a couple of little crocheted poppies for me to wear on Remembrance Day. Sorry folks, no pattern for these I just made it up as I went along. There are patterns on the net if you want to knit or crochet some.

A visit to the local library was pretty awesome as I found this cute little book to knit interesting little critters from. Some of the patterns are for ferrets, axolotls, hamsters and canaries, as well as the traditional cats, dogs, horses. I had to make myself a goldfish for fun. Great for using up those little bits of yarn that you can’t possibly throw away.

I’m into covered coat hangers now, there are so many cute patterns out there and after seeing what people had made at the show....well....the sky is the limit with what you create.

For my coat hanger I used 8 ply and cast on 77sts with size 9mm needles. I found a pattern in my Readers Digest book called ‘trinity stitch’, which is much the same as blackberry stitch. If you want to try the stitch I have included it at the end of my blog.

I'm going to be prepared for next year's headband sales and made my first headband to tuck away. Love the pink and the crocheted flower is very sweet. Someone will love it.

Talking about having that uninterrupted block of time, this is where I managed to go for broke and complete the border of the baby blanket I had been knitting. Glad to have finally finished this. lol

 

 Yes, even time to get into the garden over these holidays. I have weeded heaps around the front yard but now need to take all the weeds around to the trailer. I couldn’t get into the garden today though, we have rain. This is a pic of a favourite little part in my garden. It makes me go all gooey and warm for some reason, don’t know why!! lol

My boys are travelling home today and they will be a welcomed sight. It’s nice to have some me time but enough already. Lovely to catch up with Suz and her tribe. Your felt creations are just super Suz and I know you will do well with your sales.

Rows 1 & 3: purl

Row 2: * p 3 tog, KPK into next st*. repeat * to * across row, P 3 tog,

Row 4: *KPK into first st, P3 tog*, repeat * to * across row, KPK into last stitch.

Best news ever!!!! I am to be an Aunty again!!! Congratulations Sam, I bet little Hudson is over the moon to have a new baby brother or sister on the way. The knitting needles are out and working. I love spoiling the little ones with handmade gifts.

On Saturday I helped in the Pavilion at the Perth Royal Show doing PR work for the regional display of our area. I had such a super time and sharing the day with an out-of-control fun person topped it off. Here are some pics I took at the show......

 On the knitting front, I have now started on other projects. A simple headband with a cute little crocheted flower and yellow button.

 I’ll be making more headbands get stock up for next year’s sales. The pattern is here.





 A Yummy knitted edge I’m working on right now. It’s called lines and squares lace. Want to have a go? Here’s the pattern:

                                                                                                      You can use this pattern for any ply yarn so you will need to use the appropriate size needles for the ply of yarn you are using ie. 8 ply wool you would use size 8 (4mm) needles.

K2tog = knit 2 stitches together (this makes 1 stitch)

M1 = make one by pulling the yarn forward

Cast on 14 sts

Row 1: K2, m1, K2tog, k1, m1, k2tog, m1, k7.

Row 2 and alternate rows: Knit.

Row 3: K2, m1, k2tog, k2, m1, k2tog, m1, k7

Row 5: k2, m1, k2tog, k1, (m1, k2tog) twice, m1, k7

Row 7: k2, m1, k2tog, k2, (m1, k2tog) twice, m1, k7

Row 9: k2, m1, k2tog, k1, (m1, k2tog) three times, m1, k7

Row 11: k2, m1, k2tog, k 2. (m1, k2tog) three times, m1, k7

Row 12: cast off 6 sts, knit to end.

These 12 rows form pattern. Repeat until you get desired length.

Our new additions to the family

I’ve had the best weekend and I’m now enjoying 2 weeks school holidays. The weather is glorious today so I reckon the sewing shed is calling me. Lol. Hope life is as sweet for you as it is for me right now. Have a great week.

Sometimes a brief telephone conversation with a friend is all it takes to make you feel like you’ve been hugged.

What started out as a lovely morning has really gone to trash!!!! Lol....

We’re in for a storm says Mr. Weatherman and I do believe he is right. I’ve decided I will stay inside today and may even watch some tv.....while I do two of my favourite things.....knit and terrorize my hubby. What a perfect day. Lol

Let me share my week with you.....

I have finished knitting Mr. Squiggle for a lucky little one who lives in the eastern states of Australia. I have knitted Mr. Squiggle before and he turns out lovely every time.

Found a fantastic book at the local library. I have just tuned into friendship bracelets and there are some super designs in this book.

A friend has asked me to knit up these little toy monkeys for her. I love the pattern as it is very easy to follow but I’m not liking the yarn that was included in this package – bit coarse. The best thing about this project is I don’t have to stitch it up, my friend will.

This is a short post today, as I want to have some relaxing time and let my poor body rest. Our gym had an open day yesterday and people could come along and try out the different sessions they had to offer. I hadn’t done ‘pump’ before and wanted to try out War and Konga again. Oh.....I’m very sore! Lol

Show time is over for another year.

All the fun of the fair!!

Hello to you all.....the show is over for another year and jeepers it was fun. Though I was a bit annoyed at myself for not entering more work, I came out pretty competitive and won many sections. 1^st, 2^nd and third placings have made me happy. This is my stash...

This little mug rug will now be sold at the tourist centre after a 3^rd placing. It is a sweet little gift for someone.

 Of course, my two coat hangers were just super fun to knit and you will be interested to know that these knitted coat hangers out did 2 coat hangers knitted with lace, bling and beads. I’m over the moon...bling doesn’t always win.

 I’m over the moon about my bootees winning 1^st prize in the bootee section. Even though my bootees won the section, Miss Heather won 2 placings in this section....2^nd and 3^rd! She’s a clever monkey.

 Lol....the judge didn’t like my critter at all. Look at that face??? Oh....I see. Lol. She was entered in the recycled useful item section. I love her. She's made from an old hessian bag, the nose is stuffed with a golf ball, and the body stuffed with old cushion stuffing.

 The grandest item I made for the show.......

I am very pleased with this set, I loved knitting it, loved the yarn (2 ply merino & silk). This is the project that was on my knitting needles when it was sold already.

 

A show is not a show without chooks. My 3 distinct items drew a placing as well, 

I’ve run out of petrol I’m afraid......I think now after this weekend I need to rest. I had such a great weekend catching up with my Northam Ag. Society mates, pulling pranks on anyone of them and copping it back. A great bunch of hard working people that I consider my family, it was such a pleasure to share the weekend with you. It’s cuppa time now.
